Comment posted Dwarka Underpass – An Avoidable Water Logging Fiasco by DR S AGARWAL.
DEAR MS JYOTI,
THE DWARKA UNDERPASS IS NOT A PROBLEM BUT ITS AN OPPORTUNITY TO UNDERSTAND THE FACES OF WATER. AS YOU RIGHTLY MEASURED THE WATER VOLUME WHICH CAN BE SERVED TO MILLIONS OF PEOPLES.
WITH THIS INSTANCE, WE SHOULD TAKE A LEAD TO PROVIDE A RUN-OFF TYPE HARVESTING EQUIPMENT.
I EXPECT OPINION FROM DIFFERENT PEOPLES.
REGARDS,
DR S AGARWAL

its absolutely the right solution to harvest most of the water in areas prone to water logging make sure you are heard in the right places best of luck
Rain water harvesting possible methods should be implemented along the storm water drains which will help reducing the storm water pressure as well the recharge of ground water.
Pl send us some photos of Rainwater harvesting tparticularly through Borewells.
Thanks and regards

We have to do some creative thinking to see how we can utilise this water for harvesting. Is it possible to direct the water away from the underpass by building on the roads leading to the underpass some sort of curbs at regular intervals to drain the water on the side of the roads. These drainages could lead to bigger outlet pipes leading the water further away where a harvesting structure can be made. I think some engineering brains need to work on this.
DEAR JYOTI
YES IT WAS SHOCKING TO SEE THE QUANTOM OF WATER COLLECTED THERE. THE IMMEDIATE FEELING WAS THE HELPLESSNESS KNOWING THAT THE WHOLE WATER WOULD GO WASTE. BUT YES A HOPE FLASHED THAT WE WILL YRY THAT IT DOESNOT HAPPEN AGAIN AND WATER COLLECTED AT SUCH PLACES CAN BE SAVED IN FUTURE. AN IMMIDIATE INTERACTION WITH GOVT AGENCIES IS REQUIRED TO BUILD THE SYSTEM TO SAVE THIS CRIMINAL WASTAGE WHEN WE CAN VISUALISE THE SHORTAGE OF WATER IN THE COMING YRS
Not a drop of Water should be ever wasted. Not having done Rain Water Harvesting should be made a Criminal Offence.
Rajdhani of India, Delhi, lacking a World class Drainage system highlights shoddy workmanship & callous attitude. Also shows, we do away with quality checks, which makes us all, compellingly a laughing stock. Pained Citizens will be led to not paying Taxes as this is a breach of Magna Carta.
Thank you! You often write very interesting articles.
I liked it. So much useful material. I read with great interest.
